The server has 2 module slots, each one takes DDR3 ECC Unbufferred ram. 
- up to 2 x 4GB modules for a total of 8GB ram.
I've not tested non-ECC ram in the server.  The HP docs don't mention 
non-ECC at all.

The default specification comes with a single 1GB module.
