Happy New Year all.

Due to the fact we could all do with a small break from the pub after the festivities and that attendance will definitely be down dramatically this week (current estimate: 3 people), I've decided we'll not hold a BSD UG this month. Sorry!

Also, in February, I've decided that it might be best for those who have to travel in or who have a busy schedule that we move the BSD meetup to be the same night as Donald Knuth's talk at Manchester University (which I expect most of us are interested in attending):

Please note you need to register if you want to attend and it's in the oil drum as opposed to the usual location for the Turing lecture.

So, instead of Thursday 3rd Feb, we'll be meeting on Tuesday the 8th Feb after the lecture.

The Q&A format Knuth has chosen means it will be a singularly unique event, and will either be truly amazing and interesting, or - perhaps more likely given the probable audience - dull, stilted and occasionally embarrassing. However, it's Donald Knuth and therefore it would be remiss to at least not show up if you have even a passing interest in Computer Science, I reckon.

Afterwards, we'll adjourn to a nearby pub, probably Sand Bar, but possibly somewhere like the Saluation - I'll make a decision closer to the time based on what people want.
