Hello

I'm trying to get sendmail to work on my FreeBSD 5.3 box (PC i386).

I've never needed to use sendmail previously, but am working on hosting a
new site which will register users by sending them an email with a
validation URL which is generated from within php. It all works fine rom my
Windows-based development system, but I'm having fun-and-games migrating it
to my live server.

The /etc/rc.conf file has the lines:

sendmail_enable="YES"

sendmail_flags="-bd -q30m"

and php.ini has

sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i

When I try sending a test email from the shell prompt I think it's working
up to a point (at least it came back asking me if I meant to send a message
with no content the first time I tried it when I had indeed omitted to put
anything between the first line and the dot). I don't see anything arrive at
the email address the test mail is sent to though. There must be something
I'm missing or misunderstanding.

Is anyone able to point me towards a good "howto" for sendmail, or recommend
an alternative which is fairly idiot-proof?

Many thanks for any help.

Regards

Charles Brewster
