X Windows Installation Issue

I am trying to install FreeBSD 5.3 on a new Biostar
motherboard based system.

FreeBSD installs but X Windows is a problem. When I
type startx at the command line the monitor gives a
message out of sync. This is becuase xf86config did
not come up as an option after testing the mouse
daemon. Normally I would type xf86config as root and
then configure the system. On this occasion it says
command not found. It seems like xf86config is not
there. The system has on board graphics. I wondered if
installing a FreeBSD compatible graphics card would
solve the problem or whether moving to FreeBSD 6.0
would be helpful. Does anyone know how I can get X
Windows to run ?

Thanks
