Hi all,
=20
Trying to update my 5.2 release...
Not concerned about the system yet, just trying to update the ports.. as
i think this will be less harmfull for the 1st time i try an update....
=20
There seem to be a few good web articles on this, but none that really
hold my newbie hand through the woods.
=20
I have installed cvsup and am able to connect to cvsup.uk... for the
updates successfully.
I want to use portupgrade to get the latest versions.. kde etc...
I have installed portupgrade (make, make install etc) I did have a prob
with this, but managed to deintall, reinstall and works fine...
=20
I ran portupgrade lastnight and i think i attempted to upgrade
everything... not so good, lucky im on adsl. I eventually cancelled this
and inturn may have damaged a few things.
=20
i tried to #portupgrade kde
but this failed in the end....
=20
so trying the full portupgrade again.... #portupgrade -arR
=20
Surely there is a better way..or maybe not
Is there a "newbie step by step" doc anywhere to help people like me??
=20
Thanks in advanvce
=20
Regards
Ludovic (who is scared of daemons)
