Mozilla JDK1.4 -- corrected message 2nd time

Here's what I've got

bash-2.05b$ cd /usr/X11R6/lib/mozilla/plugins/
bash-2.05b$ ls -l

And Java seems to work fine for me. I'm not sure that you're linking to 
the right file. Also, are you using native Mozilla with your native plugin?
