Thanks Pete,

Do the export flags still stand if I use an AMD cpu and not Pentium or =
are
they the same thing ? If that makes sense :-)

I will restart it later tonight and see how long it takes to reach a =
similar
top output and maybe set a cron to kick it periodically.

Thanks for the advice

Dave C

Mysql seems to do this from tiime to time. Solution is to sopt it and =
start
it again :-)

I think its an optimisationproblem - mysql recommend flags for =
optimising
the build which are excesssive and have always caused me problems. I =
never
buold fromports, always from source, and I use the following:

export CC=3D'cc -mcpu=3Dpentiumpro -march=3Dpentiumpro'=20
export CXX=3D'c++ -mcpu=3Dpentiumpro -march=3Dpentiumpro'
export CFLAGS=3D'-O'
export CXXFLAGS=3D'-O'
./configure --without-debug --without-innodb

Adding any other flags have always got me into trouble - including =
corrupted
tables.

-bat.
