0% cpu?

Hi,

I have just resently installed freebsd 4.9 on a spare laptop to 
experiment with.

The problem is that i dont see any cpu usage... ,the only time it did 
show was  during an apache build (make).

But now anything I build shows 0% cpu, and i know this cant be true as 
the laptop is getting hot and the fan is cutting in, which wouldn't 
happen if it was sitting there on 0%.

specs of laptop are:

Acer Travel Mate 513T
Intel Celeron 400mhz
128Mb SDram
4gb toshiba drive
normal cdrom, floppy
NIC 3com 3CCFE574BT

Anyone know what the problem could be?
