Hi all,

I have posted a question about this before. But, I couldn't resolve it. =
Hope this time I could do it. I have a FreeBSD and many other servers on =
my network. The issue is I am not able to send external mails using my =
FreeBSD box, though I am able to receive. Here is the error message I =
get in /var/log/maillog
=20
Feb 20 13:46:43 apache sendmail[1817]: h1GASbv41375: =
to=3Dabdul at netsite.co.uk, ctladdr=3Dnobody (65534/65534), =
delay=3D4+03:18:06, xdelay=3D00:00:00, mailer=3Drelay, pri=3D18300061, =
relay=3Dsmtp.mydomain.co.uk., dsn=3D4.0.0, stat=3DDeferred: Operation =
timed out with smtp.mydomain.co.uk.

As the message says, I am trying to rely it through another server =
called mail.mydomain.co.uk. Here are some more facts about the server.

1. I can telnet on to port 25 of both servers from each machine.
2. I can send and receive mails from user to user on the same machine.
3. I can receive external Emails for any user of the FreeBSD machine.
4. The IP address of the FreeBSD box is available on the relay list of =
the mail server.
5. I can see all mails I send in the queue.
6. I have a local-host-names and relay-domains file in /etc/mail and =
they have all available local domain listed.
7. I have entered my mail server name (smtp.mydomain.co.uk) in Smart =
relay host record of the sendmail.cf file as follows
        DSsmtp.mydomain.co.uk
8. When I do a "dig" on MX records I am getting the following message

; <<>> DiG 8.3 <<>> apache.mydomain.co.uk mx=20
;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch
;; got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 4

;; WHEN: Thu Feb  6 09:23:08 2003
;; MSG SIZE  sent: 38  rcvd: 83

Sorry, if I bored you with too much of information. But, these are some =
questions, which answered when I post my previous post. Any help will be =
appreciated.
Thanks,
-Abdul
