Apologies for posting to the BSD list - but the Samba lists couldn't help

In answer to your questions:-

>>>trying to register with you wins server? And you dont have support
for it?
I set wins support = yes and it made no difference, I still got the logs
everynight with errors.

>>>Lmhosts, not a solution, just a hack.
It's the default setting.

>>>if you have a different wins server use it? (NT box or something like
this?)
Don't swear at me ;-)

The Network infrastructure is:-

ADSL --> ADSL Modem (Nat'd) --> [network]

FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE #0
samba-2.2.5_3 running PDC and login scripts to win9x clients
successfully.
As I mentioned, running it's own local DNS.

FreeBSD UKUG people are so much more helpful than most other lists.

Cheers chaps.

Steve

D`oh that`s wierd. I have a samba-tng (not samba, samba-TheNewGeneration
take a look at it) box, which is organised like this:

specs: Samba-TNG, dhcpd on FreeBSD 4.6 stable.
Basically i`m using dhcpd for everything (wins, dns,ip,gw). However there
is a SAP software on the samba box and it works just fine( OT i`m also
running qmail+vpopmail on it - the infrastructure is -> firewall <- dmz
--> samba box). The Samba box is also a PDC.

What is your network infrastructure? (sample scheme please?)

Lmhosts, not a solution, just a hack.

if you have a different wins server use it? (NT box or something like
this?)

No wins support? Do you have a PDC?
