Input/output error

Guys,

I'm using my FBSD 4.6 box with about 200 gigs of assorted drives through a
Promise ATA 100 controller.

Until now I've had no real difficulties, but here goes...

When a certain file is copied to any location (this doesn't happen with
other files on the drive), I get the following message:

hadron# cp xvid-wws-cd2.avi xvid-lll-cd2.avi_test
cp: xvid-lll-cd2.avi: Input/output error

It looks to me as if there are some dud sectors? I ran an fsck:

hadron# fsck /dev/ad4s1e
** /dev/ad4s1e
** Last Mounted on /mnt/40gigtemp
** Phase 1 - Check Blocks and Sizes
** Phase 2 - Check Pathnames
** Phase 3 - Check Connectivity
** Phase 4 - Check Reference Counts
** Phase 5 - Check Cyl groups
1255 files, 16174679 used, 3613690 free (362 frags, 451666 blocks, 0.0%
fragmentation)

--> Looks alright to me!

So i ran a dmesg - and to my surprise... (I've pulled out the relevant
lines):

ad4: 39266MB <IC35L040AVER07-0> [79780/16/63] at ata2-master UDMA100

These errors are printed multiple times...

Anyone any ideas? I'm not having much luck with IBM drives at the moment -
at least one goes a year - this'll be my second!

Cheerz
Rob
