"which is the standard shell?"
hee hee!

Prepare for a number of responses roughly equal to the number of available
shells!

I'd say bash with a spot of perl to spice things up, but see previous line.

Subject: which shell to learn "Shell programming"?!

Hi Guys,

I need to learn to write scripts, which shell should I use?
I hear about standard shell but I am not sure which is the standard
shell?

is it the "sh", or ksh or tcsh or csh? I am using FreeBSD-RELEASE 4.7

Thanks for your opinions.

Georges
