Hi Ian,
I did not think the routing daemon was necessary for bridging. Does =
the bridge not operate at a lower level and not consider the higher =
level protocols such as TCPIP, IPX, etc... I did try this without luck. =
It must be something really silly as I tried just about everything. =
Perhaps it's time to purchase the Orinoco COR-1100 to handle the =
AP/Bridging function. At $1200 U.S. is is not quite the way I wanted to =
go...
Thanks Again
George

Does the docs mention running a routing protocol such as routed?=20
=20
You should enable it with router_enable=3D"YES" in your /etc/rc.conf =
file.=20
=20
To run it while the box is up type "routed -q".=20
=20
This should sort the problem of packets not being routed.=20

Hi all,=20
=20
I have been attempting to get a transparent bridge running with my =
FreeBSD 4.4 setup. I have configured the kernel with all bridging and =
firewalling options. I have run all of the necessary "sysctl" commands. =
The problem is that there are almost NO packets being send from the =
wireless interface. When I look at the TCPDUMP on the FreeBSD box, I =
see may ARP requests such as the who-has and so on. It does not look =
like these packets are making it through. I have set the firewall to =
pass all packets as well. Are there some secret settings that are not =
found in this document?:=20
=20
http://www.kozubik.com/published/freebsd_bridging_ipfw.txt=20
=20
Also, I have the both cards configured correctly (so I believe) as =
they are in promiscous mode and do respond to ping requests with IP is =
enabled on them - I currently have IP only in the inside, hard-wired =
ethernet card.=20
=20
Any ideas?=20
=20
Thank You All=20
