Same Result.
I don't believe it is a name resolution problem as I have tried with =
both IP's and names with the same result. When tracerouting to a name =
here is the first line:
traceroute to www.freebsd.org (216.136.204.117), 64 hops max, 40 byte =
packets
As you can see name resolution appears to be ok.
Any other ideas?
Lee.

Subject: Tracerouting
Hi All,=20
=20
Perhaps someone can help me once again with a little annoyance.=20
=20
My network connection appears fine, I can access Mail, News, Web =
etc. Pings also work fine.=20
=20
However whenever I try to traceroute, anything beyond the initial =
hop (my router) is not returning I just get:-=20
=20
2 * * *=20
3 * * *=20
4 * * *=20
5 * * * etc=20
=20
I though I may be my router, but the other 3 computers on my network =
(a RedHat 7.3 / Windows 98, Windows Me & a WIndows 2K laptop) Work =
fine.=20
=20
So then I though ok perhaps it is the default firewall on the =
FreeBSD 4.6 installation. I tried listing the firewall rules, but just =
got:-=20
=20
ipfw: getsockopt (IP_FW_GET): Protocol not available=20
=20
Next I tried flushing any firewall rules, says "yes" I was sure, =
but I got the same error as above.=20
=20
Can anyone shed some light onto the problem and a possible solution, =
cheers.=20
