I have exactly the same problem with FreeBSD 4.5, Debian, and Progeny
Debian, I believe it's something to do with my Hardware which doesn't seem
to like XF86 before 4.X.X, I'll be watching any answers with interest as I
may be then able to get an install with a working set of X.
