Go to your local train station and ask for a Young Person's Railcard. It
costs around 17 or 18 pounds, but is a 1/3 discount off any rail
journey. The earlier you book by phone, the cheaper the ticket you can
get, so if you book mere seconds after geting your YPR, it ought to be as
cheap as you can get. Just for a comparision, booking 2 weeks in advance
to go from Manchester to London, the saving was 1 pound off the price of
the YPR.
