FreeBSD used to be limited to starting at a point < 8Gb.  It got over
this about the time of 4.1-RELEASE, but when I was installing
4.0-RELEASE last year, I had to use some custom patches to get it


[1] And I kept forgetting to reapply them after each make world.  Doh!
    No Boot!
