NTL cable modem and dhclient

Hiya


I've been trying to persude my FreeBSD machine to
talk to my ntl cable modem without a great deal of
luck.

Do I have to do anything special, or should it work
out of the box?  I've tried 'sysinstall' and
'dhclient' but they just timeout after a few
minutes...there's the odd flicker between the modem
and network card, but nothing happens.  It works
fine under Windows, however.

The modem is a Motorola Surfboard.
