ppp on demand

Running 4.4 with ppp -nat -auto for a small network.  Have noticed that
the tun device does not let go of the previous IP's:

london% netstat -in | grep tun0 | head

This goes on forever, actually, as the box has been up for some time.  It
still responds locally to all of these IP's as well, which is unfortunate
if I ever want to talk directly to someone at BT :)  Anyone know whats up?
