Hello everyone...
=20
I=92ve been having a problem with connecting to the internet with =
FreeBSD
since the begging, I bought =91The Complete FreeBSD=92 a bit of time
ago and that basically helped me with most things with BSD, anywho my
current setup is my win2k machine acting as a gateway
for the network + being the machine I mostly use, but I=92m sick of all
the reconnecting, and rebooting and such, I want my connection
to stay up as long as possible (this is possible even with btconnect :))
and the best way would be use my FreeBSD machine to
act as the gateway.
=20
Anyway using my trusty book and wits I got pppd setup and everything so
it could run, ISP settings was all right and so on, but when it
came to making a connection, it wouldn=92t do it, It dials the number =
ok,
starts to connect but just doesn=92t make that connection, the only =
thing=20
I have noticed is that the modem is making different tones/sounds when
trying to connect; this is compared to something like when I dial into
the net
using my NT machine.
=20
I=92m currently running FreeBSD 4.2-STABLE and the modem is a 3Com U.S.
Robotics 56k Faxmodem (external), any help would be great, I don=92t =
want
to be stuck behind this damn NT machine all my life :)=20
=20
Regards,
=20
William Cooper.
