K6-3 450 runs slow

after a cvsup and make buildworld the kernel takes a lot longer than
previously on this k6 2 450, but seeing all the work it does it is hardly
surprising, the previous pld style kernel build was <3 mins.
Still the entire builworld, buildkernel and install is still < 3 hrs with
just over 2 for the make buildworld
