Well the box in question has now been "salvaged" and checked out.
Unfortunately it only had two PCI slots one of which had an Adaptec 2940 in
it, but a spare dual port Pro 100/B was sitting around :-)

4.0 has been installed and all hardware passes muster, so if this box can be
of use, just shout.  It only has a 1GB IDE drive in it at the moment but I
have a couple of 4GB SCSI drives that can be used with it.
