Thanks for those suggestions in answer to my question above. It looks like the Advent 7340 PC World laptop has a Silicon Motion Lynx3D graphics adapter which should be supported by the XFree86-3.3.6 which ships with FreeBSD 4.0 - watch this space! cheers Charlie B
