It's a shot in the dark, but try turning off tagged queuing.

    camcontrol negotiate -n da -u 0 -T disable
    camcontrol negotiate -n da -u 1 -T disable

should do that for both your drives.  Some drives have buggy firmware that
doesn't support tagged queuing properly.  I've had similar problems on older
Quantum Atlas III drives.

If that doesn't help then it's probably worthwhile re-asking the question
on either the -scsi or -hardware mailing lists.
