Laptop for FreeBSD

Thanks to everyone for their pointers. As it happens, not long after I sent my
mail Natalie stumbled across a Sony F400 at a price I could afford, so I am now
a proud member of the VAIO owners club.

I had to compromise on the screen res (the HPA acreen only does 800x600) but if
a few things come off I might not be living with it for eternity.

I suspect I'll encounter a few challenges (I have already), so the list isn't
going to be quiet anytime soon.

BTW - should we consider starting a VAIO SIG? :-)
