Have you tried forcing the card into 100baseTX mode, rather than letting it
negotiate with the hub? The negotiation isn't 100% guaranteed, and you might
even have to take it further and force-configure the hub too.

Are you sure you want an IP4 address of [0.0.0.0]? That may be your problem,
rather than the lower level.
