Ports installation

Such a long time & i am still not able to install ports from the BSD 4.0
cdrom i did everything they said in the handbook but no luck
All message i get when i make is that <port> doesnt seem to be on this
system trying to fetch it from blah blah blah....
error..........
error.........
error........

thats it

i move into /usr/ports/www/<port name>/
then
make



what is to be done ?
