I sit behind a firewall here and I have no problems.
But it all depends upon what you firewall does and does
not let through.

First of all, what problems are you experiencing?

Some tips though are:
make sure ftp and fetch are running in passive mode.
If you have a http proxy and/or ftp proxy
on your firewall, you need to make fetch use these too.

Can you tell me a little more about your setup
